Mini Cheesecakes at Delectable Delights Baking

A cheesecake here runs about two inches across. Three bites if you pace yourself, one if you don’t. That size is the whole idea behind Delectable Delights Baking, the small storefront on Broad Street in Branchville where pastry chef Dillon Gray makes every batch by hand. Picking a single flavor was never really the point. The case is built so you walk out with six or twelve and argue in the car about which one won.

Gray spent more than a decade in restaurant and bakery kitchens before opening in Branchville, and the Triple Berry on the menu is the flavor that followed him through all of them.

Signature, Seasonal, and Pop-Up Flavors

The signature list runs $4.50 and stays put: White Chocolate Raspberry layered over raspberry compote, Cannoli built on mascarpone and ricotta, Coquito with rum and coconut, Dulce de Leche finished with cinnamon cookie crumble, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, Cookies & Cream, Choco-Nibblets. Seasonal flavors are $4.75 (Key Lime, Honey Lavender, Lemon Raspberry). The pop-up and holiday board at $5 is where things get loose: Tiramisu on a crust of coffee-soaked ladyfingers, Cherries Jubilee with brandied cherries, and a banana and peanut butter creation called My Circus, My Monkeys.

Gluten-Free and Vegan Options

Most flavors can be made gluten-free, and several go vegan using a cashew-based cream cheese that bakes to a genuinely creamy set. Something restriction-friendly is usually in the case, but for a specific flavor, give the shop two or three days. A quick call tells you what’s ready today.

Coffee, Custom Orders, and Catering

The coffee is locally roasted Campagna, brewed with spring water out of Stokes State Forest. Past the case, Delectable Delights takes on custom work: tiered cheesecakes for weddings, assorted mini boxes for showers and offices, and wholesale accounts. Sizing runs from bite-sized up to standard.

Visiting the Branchville Storefront

Three days a week, Thursday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The abstract painted awning out front, done by local artist Brianne Valentino, makes the shop easy to spot on a short block. Online ordering runs through Toast for pickup. Minis hold five to seven days in the fridge or up to three months in the freezer, so a twelve-pack is less of a commitment than it sounds. It’s a quick stop off Route 206 and pairs well with the rest of Sussex County’s bakeries and dessert shops.
